Allergies

An allergy is an immunological response to something to that the body mistakes as being harmful, creating an inflammatory response.  The body sends out antibodies and chemicals such as histamine in response to contact with the allergen.  Both allergy and asthma occur when a particular part of our immune system is out of balance. 

Typical symptoms of an allergic reaction are:

• Asthma and other respiratory disorders leading to wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness
• Hay fever and sinusitis
• Gastrointestinal symptoms including bloating, constipation & diarrhea
• Eczema in children, skin irritations around the mouth
• Hives and rashes anywhere on the body, as well as fluid retention
• General fatigue, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
